Alora and the Golden Stone by MJ Williams is much more than a young-adult science fiction with its novel twists, turns and mysteries. Alora Bravemist, a sixteen year old high school student, along with her friends Katie, Jen, Amal and her dog Smokey, set out to solve some found ominous poems full of conundrums that eventually lead them back in time to save both their own past and the world as we know it. Readers will appreciate how our young adults empower themselves in dealing with other teen issues such as overeating, lost love, grief and loss, and confronting unexpected situations. Teaching important lessons in life, Alora and the Golden Stone is great reading for the young at heart and the adventurous of soul.
